Languages in Spain

In Spain about 14 languages are spoken — some are in danger of becoming extinct, like Aranese. Basque has finally survived thanks to language revitalization policies, that were needed after the 40-year dictatorship in Spain, when Basque — and all the other languages except Spanish/castellano — was banned! Imagine: there are Basque people who have to bear the pain of not knowing their own language because of this! So if you want to help, consider learning this amazing language!

Over here you’ll find a map that is interactive, this is, if you click on it you’ll be taken to a webpage telling you the story of one of these languages. The problem is that it is in Spanish!
